The 1–2 tonne excavator grading bucket is a 900mm fixed bucket for mini diggers and compact excavators. Its wide, smooth cutting edge is designed for levelling soil, spreading loose material, cleaning existing ditches, shaping banks and completing the finishing work after excavation.
Also known as a 1–2 tonne ditching bucket, this model combines a low-profile shape and extended flat base with an HB400 abrasion-resistant cutting edge and reinforced floor wear strips. At 51kg, it gives smaller machines a practical attachment for controlled grading, landscaping and light groundworks without the teeth fitted to a conventional digging bucket.

Where This 900mm Ditching Bucket Works Best
The 900mm width gives a 1–2 tonne mini digger a broad working edge while remaining suited to the smaller sites where compact machines are normally used. It is a useful choice for garden landscaping, path and driveway preparation, drainage maintenance and final site clean-up.
Typical applications include:
- Levelling topsoil, sub-base and loose aggregates
- Spreading and backfilling loose material
- Cleaning existing ditches and shallow drainage channels
- Shaping garden banks, verges and small slopes
- Preparing ground for turf, paving and landscaping
- Finishing and tidying an area after trenching or excavation
This is a fixed grading bucket rather than a hydraulic tilt bucket. It is intended for controlled levelling, shaping and loose-material handling; it is not designed to replace a toothed bucket when breaking into hard or compacted ground.
Fitment and Compatibility
Excavator buckets are not universal. The 1–2 tonne carrier rating is the starting point, but the bucket must also match the machine or quick hitch. Before ordering, confirm the exact excavator make and model, hitch type, pin diameter, pin centres and dipper gap.
If you are replacing an existing bucket, measurements and clear photographs of the current bucket or hitch can help confirm the correct linkage. If you are unsure, use our request a quote form and include your machine details so we can help check suitability before the bucket is supplied.
Grading Bucket or Digging Bucket?
Choose this grading bucket when the priority is a smooth finish, a wide working area and efficient movement of loose material. If the job involves cutting into compacted soil, opening trenches or digging footings, a toothed 1–2 tonne excavator digging bucket will normally be the better attachment.

Delivery and Ordering
This bucket is supplied to suit the confirmed machine and hitch specification. Typical fulfilment is within 7–10 working days, although factory workload and fitment requirements can affect the exact lead time. Please contact us before ordering if the attachment is required for a fixed date.
1–2 Tonne Grading Bucket FAQs
Is a grading bucket the same as a ditching bucket?
For this type of fixed attachment, the two names describe the same bucket. It has a wide, smooth cutting edge intended for levelling, finishing, ditch cleaning and handling loose material.
Will this bucket fit every 1–2 tonne excavator?
No. Machines within the same weight class can use different pin dimensions and hitch systems. The machine model, hitch type, pin diameter, pin centres and dipper gap must be checked before supply.
How wide is this grading bucket?
The bucket is 900mm wide, equal to approximately 35.4 inches. It is commonly described as a 36-inch grading or ditching bucket.
Does the bucket have teeth?
No. It uses a smooth HB400 cutting edge so the operator can leave a cleaner, more even finish than would normally be possible with a toothed digging bucket.
Can it be used for digging?
It can collect loose soil and complete light excavation or ditch-cleaning work, but it is not intended for aggressive digging in hard or compacted ground. Use a toothed digging bucket for those conditions.
What information is needed to confirm fitment?
Provide the excavator make and model, operating weight, hitch type, pin diameter, pin centres and dipper gap. Photographs of the hitch or an existing bucket can also help confirm the required linkage.
