Forklift Tipping Skips

Our forklift tipping skips, also called tipper skips, forklift skips or tipping bins, slide onto your forks so one driver can collect waste, carry it and tip it into a skip, container or waste bay without anyone picking up a shovel. Each one is made in the UK by Contact Attachments in five sizes from 400 to 2000 litres, carries up to 1500kg, and is CE and UKCA marked with a 3-year warranty.

Sizes and Load Capacities

All three skips come in the same five sizes. Choose by weight as well as volume, because dense waste such as rubble or scrap reaches the load capacity long before the skip is full.

Every skip takes forks up to 150 x 60mm at an 890mm fork spread. How to Choose a Forklift Tipping Skip

Choosing a forklift tipping skip comes down to four checks.

Size it by weight as well as volume

Load capacity runs from 1000kg on the 400 and 800 litre sizes to 1500kg on the 1600 and 2000 litre sizes. Dense waste such as rubble or scrap metal reaches that limit long before the skip is full, so choose by the heaviest load you'll carry, not just the space it takes up. Light, bulky waste like packaging suits the larger sizes.

Choose how it tips

The roll forward and heavy duty skips tip when the operator pulls the full-width release handle, so nobody has to lean between the skip and the mast. The auto release skip tips from the driver's seat, even at height, so it suits sites that empty skips many times a day or tip into high-sided containers. Match the steel to the waste

The roll forward and auto release skips are built from 3mm steel, which suits general waste, packaging and workshop scrap. For scrap metal, rubble and daily industrial use, the heavy duty skip has a 5mm steel body.

Check your forks and truck

Every skip takes forks up to 150 x 60mm at an 890mm spread. Your forklift carries the skip's own weight as well as the load, and fitting a skip moves the load centre forward, so check the truck's capacity with the skip fitted. Using a Tipping Skip Safely

  • Fit the safety security chain every time, so the skip can't slide off the forks
  • Stay within the skip's load capacity and your forklift's capacity with the skip fitted
  • Check the area in front of the skip is clear before you tip
  • Travel with the skip low, and never lift a loaded skip over people
  • Train drivers to fit, use and remove the skip, and include it in your regular equipment checks

What is a forklift tipping skip?

A steel skip with fork pockets that slides onto your forklift's forks. You fill it, carry it to your main skip or waste bay, then release it so it rolls forward and empties. You'll also hear them called tipper skips, self tipping skips, forklift skips or tipping bins.

What size tipping skip do I need?

Start with the weight of your waste, then the volume. The 400 and 800 litre skips carry up to 1000kg, the 1200 litre up to 1250kg, and the 1600 and 2000 litre up to 1500kg. Our tipping skip capacity guide walks you through it.

Will a tipping skip fit my forklift?

Our skips take forks up to 150 x 60mm at an 890mm spread, and most counterbalance forklifts can carry one if the truck has the capacity. Send us your forklift details and we'll confirm.

Can I add castors or auto release later?

Yes. The roll forward and heavy duty skips have pre-drilled castor plates and pull cord fixing points, so castors or an auto release kit can be added later. The auto release skip comes with castors as standard.

What extras are available?

Lids, mesh extensions for extra volume, castors, lifting lugs, and a drain tap and filter. Ask us for a price when you order.

How quickly will it arrive?

The roll forward and auto release skips are usually delivered within 7 to 10 working days, and the heavy duty skip within 15. The lead time shows on each product page.
