Excavator Tools

Excavator tools are the hard-working attachments that make an excavator more useful on site: ripper hooks for hard ground, compaction wheels and plates for backfill, pallet forks for moving materials and quick hitches for faster attachment changes. Our range covers 1 to 40 tonne excavators, including Miller hydraulic couplers, and each tool is made to fit your machine.

Tool What it does Excavator sizes Hydraulics
Ripper hooks Break up compacted ground, hardcore, frozen ground and rock 1–40 tonnes None
Compaction wheels Compact clay and cohesive backfill in trenches and embankments 1–22 tonnes None
Compaction plate Compacts hardcore, gravel and soil, at up to 50m² an hour 12–14 tonnes Auxiliary circuit
Pallet forks Lift and place pallets, blocks, kerbs and pipes 2–22 tonnes None
Quick hitches Change buckets and attachments in minutes 1–27 tonnes None, or a hitch supply for hydraulic couplers

Which Excavator Tool Do You Need?

  • Ground too hard to dig: a ripper hook breaks it up first, so your bucket can dig it out.
  • Backfilling trenches: a compaction wheel for clay and cohesive soils, or a vibrating compaction plate for hardcore, gravel and sand.
  • Moving materials on site: pallet forks lift and place pallets, blocks, kerbs and pipes without a telehandler.
  • Changing attachments often: a quick hitch saves knocking pins in and out every time.

Made to Fit Your Excavator

Excavators in the same weight class can use different pin sizes, linkage widths and quick hitches, so every tool is finished with the linkage to suit your machine. When you order, send us your excavator make and model, operating weight, pin diameter, pin centres, dipper width and quick hitch details. Our guide on how to measure an excavator for a new bucket shows how to take them.

Do They Need Hydraulics?

Most don't. Rippers, compaction wheels, pallet forks and the manual and Springlock quick hitches work off the excavator's own force and linkage. The compaction plate runs off your auxiliary circuit, and hydraulic couplers like the Miller GTS and Powerlatch need a hydraulic supply to the hitch.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are excavator tools?

Simple attachments that add jobs to your excavator: ripping hard ground, compacting backfill, lifting pallets and changing attachments quickly. Most are mechanical, with no hydraulics needed.

Will they fit my excavator?

Each tool is finished with the linkage to suit your machine. Send us your machine details and we'll confirm the fit before anything is supplied.

How long does delivery take?

Usually 7 to 10 working days. Each one is made to fit your machine, so we confirm your measurements first. Ask us if you need it for a fixed date.
