The 12–14 tonne excavator compaction plate is a hydraulic vibrating plate compactor that works off your excavator's arm. It compacts hardcore, gravel, aggregate and soil in trenches, around foundations and on slopes and embankments, at up to 50m² an hour.

The vibration comes from a hydraulically driven rotating unbalanced weight, so it works at almost any angle and doesn't rely on extra down-pressure from the boom. Two steel assemblies are joined by four heavy-duty rubber mounts that soak up vibration before it reaches your machine. It can also drive fence posts. It's finished with the linkage to suit your excavator.

Key Features

  • Plate 1,053mm long and 650mm wide
  • Compacts up to 50m² an hour
  • Works at almost any angle: trenches, foundations, slopes and embankments
  • Four heavy-duty rubber mounts isolate vibration from the machine
  • For hardcore, gravel, aggregate and soil, and can drive fence posts
  • Runs off your excavator's auxiliary hydraulics
  • Finished with the linkage to fit your excavator

Compaction Plate or Compaction Wheel?

A vibrating plate is usually the better choice for granular material such as hardcore, gravel and sand. For clay and other cohesive soils, a sheepsfoot-style compaction wheel kneads the soil and often does a better job. Read compaction wheel or compaction plate for more on choosing and compacting in layers.

Hydraulic Requirements

The plate runs off your excavator's auxiliary hydraulic circuit. Send us your machine's auxiliary flow and pressure, or just your make and model, and we'll confirm it's suitable before it's supplied.

Excavator and Quick-Hitch Compatibility

Machine weight is only a starting point. Excavators in the same weight class can use different pin sizes, linkage widths and quick hitches, so the compaction plate is finished with the linkage to suit your machine. When you order, send us:

  • Excavator make and model
  • Machine operating weight
  • Quick hitch make and model, if you run one
  • Pin diameter and pin centres
  • Dipper width

Our guide on how to measure an excavator for a new bucket shows how to take the pin measurements. If you can't measure, send us photos of your hitch and we'll help.

Delivery and Ordering

Each compaction plate is confirmed to suit your machine before it's supplied. Delivery is usually within 7 to 10 working days, although factory lead times can change this. If you need it for a fixed date, contact us before ordering so we can confirm the current lead time.

12–14 Tonne Compaction Plate FAQs

What hydraulics does it need?

An auxiliary circuit on your excavator. Send us your machine's flow and pressure and we'll confirm it's suitable before it's supplied.

Compaction plate or compaction wheel?

A plate suits granular material like hardcore, gravel and sand. A sheepsfoot compaction wheel suits clay and cohesive soils.

How fast does it compact?

Up to 50m² an hour, depending on the material and the depth of each layer.

Do you have a plate for a smaller excavator?
