Crane Man Baskets

Crane man baskets lift people with an overhead or mobile crane for work at height, and rescue cages bring people and casualties down in an emergency. Each cage hangs from a four-leg chain set clear of the people inside, with an overhead guard against falling objects, and is built to BS EN 14502 for suspended baskets.

Choosing a Crane Man Basket

Start with how many people need to go up and what they'll take with them. The one person cage suits a single worker with tools, the two person cage gives a pair room to work, and the rescue cages carry up to eight people plus a stretcher. The deluxe rescue cage comes fitted with a defibrillator, first aid kits, emergency lights and harnesses.

Lifting People Safely

  • Have every lift planned by a competent person, as LOLER requires
  • Check your crane is suitable and rated for the cage, the people and their tools together
  • Equipment for lifting people needs a thorough examination at least every six months
  • The fork stirrups are only for moving the empty cage with a forklift, never with anyone inside
