Excavator Concrete Pouring Buckets

Excavator concrete pouring buckets carry concrete from the mixer lorry to the pour when the lorry can't get close. Tapered sides and a front lip lead the concrete into a funnel chute, so you can place it accurately into formwork and columns with little spillage, using the machine already on site.

Bucket Excavator size Capacity Width x length Funnel Weight
060-CC 6–9 tonnes 450 litres 1050 x 1203mm 300mm 192kg
100-CC 10–16 tonnes 875 litres 1200 x 1526mm 300mm 350kg
200-CC 15–24 tonnes 1500 litres 1506 x 1822mm 340mm 570kg

Wet concrete weighs about 2.4 tonnes per cubic metre, so a full 875 litre bucket carries about 2.1 tonnes of concrete before you add the bucket. Send us your machine and hitch details and we'll confirm the right size and the fit. Our guide on how to pour concrete with an excavator covers setting up, pouring and washing out.

How a Concrete Pouring Bucket Works

Fill the bucket from the mixer lorry's chute, lift it and swing to the pour. As you tip the bucket, the tapered sides and front lip feed the concrete into the funnel chute, which directs it into the formwork or column in a controlled stream. A standard digging bucket tends to spill and leaves concrete stuck around the teeth, so a bucket shaped for pouring wastes less.

Choosing the Size

  • 060-CC for 6–9 tonne excavators: 450 litres, about 1.1 tonnes of concrete when full
  • 100-CC for 10–16 tonne excavators: 875 litres, about 2.1 tonnes of concrete when full
  • 200-CC for 15–24 tonne excavators: 1500 litres, about 3.6 tonnes of concrete when full

Add the bucket's own weight, then check the total against your excavator's lift chart at the reach you'll pour at. If the pour is a long way from where the lorry can stand, a smaller bucket you can carry at full reach may beat a bigger one you can't.

Fitment

Send us your excavator make, model and operating weight, and your quick hitch make and model or pin diameter, pin centres and dipper width. Our guide on how to measure an excavator for a new bucket shows how to take the measurements.

Pouring Safely

  • Keep people clear of the bucket while it's raised and when you swing
  • Plan where the lorry stands, where the excavator sets up and the route between them
  • Wear waterproof gloves and boots: wet concrete is highly alkaline and can burn skin
  • Wash the bucket out after the pour, in a contained area away from drains
