Mini Digger Breakers

Mini digger breakers turn a 0.8 to 4.5 tonne excavator into a compact concrete and rock breaker for patios, paths, footings, kerbs and small demolition jobs. Each size comes as an Economy model for occasional work, or a Professional model with a silenced box-type housing, auto-lube and a 2-year warranty.

Mini digger breaker Excavator size Oil flow Chisel Operating weight (Economy / Professional) Impact energy
0.8–2.5 tonne breaker 0.8–2.5 tonnes 15–25 l/min 40mm 72kg / 102kg 203 / 203 joules
1.2–2 tonne breaker 1.2–2 tonnes 20–30 l/min 45mm 92kg / 126kg 290 / 290 joules
2.5–4.5 tonne breaker 2.5–4.5 tonnes 25–50 l/min 53mm 200kg / 152kg 320 / 320 joules

On a 1.2 to 2 tonne machine, you can choose between the lighter 0.8–2.5 tonne breaker and the heavier, harder-hitting 1.2–2 tonne breaker. For bigger machines, see all our excavator breakers.

Choosing a Mini Digger Breaker

Match the breaker to your machine's weight first, then check its oil flow:

Does My Mini Digger Have a Hammer Circuit?

A breaker needs a hammer circuit, an auxiliary hydraulic service that sends oil to the breaker and back to the tank. Many mini diggers have auxiliary hydraulics, but not every machine is set up for a breaker, so check the manual or spec sheet for the auxiliary flow and pressure. If you're not sure, send us your machine details and we'll check.

Economy or Professional?

At mini digger sizes both models deliver the same impact energy, so the choice comes down to how often you'll use it. The Economy model suits occasional jobs and hire fleets. If you're breaking every day, the Professional model's silenced box-type housing, auto-lube and 2-year warranty pay off.

Common Jobs for a Mini Digger Breaker

  • Breaking out concrete patios, paths and driveways
  • Removing old footings and foundations
  • Breaking kerbs and hardstanding
  • Trenching through rock and hard ground
  • Small demolition and strip-out jobs

Frequently Asked Questions

What size breaker do I need for a 1.5 tonne mini digger?

Either the 0.8–2.5 tonne breaker or the 1.2–2 tonne breaker. The 1.2–2 tonne model is heavier and hits harder, but needs 20–30 l/min of oil flow. The 0.8–2.5 tonne model is lighter and runs on 15–25 l/min.

What size breaker do I need for a 3 tonne mini digger?

The 2.5–4.5 tonne breaker, which needs 25–50 l/min at 90–120 bar and drives a 53mm chisel.

Can I use a mini digger breaker on a bigger machine?

It's not a good idea. A breaker that's too small for the machine is easily overloaded and wears quickly, so choose the size that matches your excavator's weight. See all our excavator breakers.

How long does delivery take?

Usually 7 to 10 working days, as each breaker is confirmed to suit your machine. Ask us if you need one sooner.
