1–2 Tonne Excavator Manual Grapple
Delivery within 7–10 Working Days*
The 1–2 tonne excavator manual grapple is a mechanical grab for land clearance, skip sorting and general forestry work. It uses your dipper cylinder to open and close, so it needs no hydraulics at all, which makes it a much more cost-effective way to start grabbing than a hydraulic grab.
Solid tines give it the strength for timber, brash and bulky material, and with no hydraulic parts there's no risk of hydraulic failure or costly downtime. It's often one of the first attachments operators add after their bucket set.
It's supplied as a kit, with a 3-position pad to weld onto your dipper arm and a solid 16mm connecting bar. Once you've confirmed your machine details, the grab is fitted with the brackets it needs and delivered, so you just weld on the pad and connect it to your machine or quick coupler.

Manual Grapple or Hydraulic Grab?
A manual grapple is the cost-effective choice and has nothing hydraulic to maintain, but its inner jaw is fixed, so it can't match the dexterity of a hydraulic grab. If you need to grip and release independently of the dipper, look at our excavator folding grabs or timber grabs.
Fitting
The 3-position pad needs welding to your dipper arm, so plan for a competent welder to fit it. Once the pad is on, the grapple connects to your machine or quick coupler.
Excavator and Quick-Hitch Compatibility
Machine weight is only a starting point. Excavators in the same weight class can use different pin sizes, linkage widths, quick hitches and auxiliary hydraulics, so please send us the following when you order:
- Excavator make and model
- Machine operating weight
- Quick hitch make and model, if you run one
- Pin diameter and pin centres
- Dipper width
- Photos of your dipper arm, if you can
Our guide on how to measure an excavator for a new bucket shows how to take the pin measurements. If you can't measure, send us photos of your hitch and we'll help.
Delivery and Ordering
Each manual grapple is supplied as a kit, with brackets to suit your confirmed machine. Delivery is usually within 7 to 10 working days, although factory lead times can change this. If you need the grapple for a fixed date, contact us before ordering so we can confirm the current lead time.
1–2 Tonne Manual Grapple FAQs
Does a manual grapple need hydraulics?
No. It uses the dipper cylinder to open and close, so there are no hydraulic lines, valves or cylinders to fit.
How is it fitted?
It's supplied as a kit with a 3-position pad to weld onto your dipper arm and a solid 16mm connecting bar. Once you've confirmed your machine details, the grab is fitted with the brackets it needs, so you just weld on the pad and connect it to your machine or quick coupler.
Manual grapple or hydraulic grab?
A manual grapple costs much less and has nothing hydraulic to go wrong, but its inner jaw is fixed, so it lacks some of the dexterity of a hydraulic grab. For full hydraulic control, see our folding grabs, timber grabs and selector grabs.
Will it fit my 1–2 tonne excavator?
Send us your machine make, model and operating weight, plus your quick coupler details, and we'll confirm the right brackets before the grapple is supplied.
