The Auger Torque 1200 earth drill is a hydraulic auger drive for 0.75–1 tonne micro excavators. It turns an auger with up to 1,164Nm of torque to drill post holes, tree pits and foundation holes from 100mm to 300mm across.

It runs on 15–32 l/min of oil at 30–185 bar from your excavator's auxiliary circuit, and its 50mm round output shaft takes Auger Torque S2 augers. It's supplied with hoses and adaptors. Tell us your coupler type and size when you order.

What You Need to Start Drilling

The earth drill is the hydraulic drive unit that turns the auger. To start drilling you'll also need:

  • A hitch to mount it on your excavator: the 1200 single pin hitch, made to fit your machine's pins and dipper.
  • An auger: the S2 auger in the diameter you need, up to 300mm with this drive.

Key Features

  • Up to 1,164Nm of torque at 185 bar
  • Recommended for 0.75–1 tonne micro excavators
  • Drills holes from 100mm to 300mm across with S2 augers
  • 50mm round output shaft
  • High-efficiency planetary gearbox
  • High-quality hydraulic motor
  • Patented non-dislodgement shaft: a one-piece shaft assembled from the top down and locked into the gearbox housing, so it can't drop out
  • Output shaft bearings that Auger Torque says are up to 50% larger than competing drives'
  • Supplied with hoses and adaptors

Hydraulic Requirements

The 1200 needs a two-way auxiliary circuit that can supply 15–32 l/min at up to 185 bar. Oil flow sets how fast the auger turns and pressure sets the torque, so a machine at the low end of the range will drill more slowly. The circuit needs to run both ways so you can reverse the auger to free it. Check your machine's auxiliary flow and pressure before you order, or send us your machine details and we'll check them for you.

Fitting It to Your Excavator

Machine weight is the starting point, but excavators in the same class use different pins, dippers and quick hitches, so the hitch is made to measure. When you order, send us:

  • Your excavator make, model and operating weight
  • Pin diameter and dipper width
  • Your quick hitch make and model, if you use one
  • Your auxiliary circuit's flow and pressure, if you know them

Our guide on how to measure an excavator for a new bucket shows how to take the pin measurements, and they're the same for an auger hitch.

Delivery and Ordering

We confirm the earth drill, hitch and hydraulics suit your machine before anything is supplied. Delivery is usually within 7 to 10 working days, although factory lead times can change this. If you need it for a fixed date, contact us before ordering so we can confirm the current lead time.

1200 Earth Drill FAQs

What size excavator does the 1200 suit?

Auger Torque recommends it for 0.75–1 tonne micro excavators. Your machine's auxiliary circuit also needs to supply 15–32 l/min at 30–185 bar.

What size holes can it drill?

From 100mm to 300mm across with Auger Torque S2 augers, depending on the ground.

Does it come with a hitch and auger?

No. It comes with hoses and adaptors, and you choose the hitch and S2 auger separately, so you get the right pin size and hole diameter.

What hydraulics does it need?

A two-way auxiliary circuit that supplies 15–32 l/min at 30–185 bar.

Which augers fit it?

Auger Torque S2 augers with a 50mm round hub. See the S2 auger for diameters and teeth.
